At it's core, being an artist is about noticing. Noticing the world around you, taking it in the way that only you can, and then pouring all of it out.
This season, we're inviting more of that. Noticing both big and little patterns, and turning them into more patterns of art. We're guided by Kristin, Mona, and Ingrid who invite you to delve into the intriguing world of patterns in art.
First, Kristin will take us on a tour of her creative spaces, showing how each environment shapes her work. She’ll share her methods for organizing materials and transforming her studio into a source of inspiration. Kristin will also explore the impact of patterns, from vintage collages to playful details, and how they can elevate your artwork. Next, Mona will reveal her creative rituals. She’ll also discuss the role of the color black in art, illustrating how it can create powerful contrasts and evoke deep emotions. Finally, Ingrid will open her art journal to showcase her favorite materials and explain why art journaling is a significant practice for her. She’ll also guide us through creating patterns using security envelopes, demonstrating how ordinary objects can become extraordinary in the creative process.
Join us as we uncover the beauty and influence of patterns in art, and let each artist’s insights inspire your own creative journey.
Kristin is always exploring and expanding the creative depths of being an artist. She very much enjoys vintage collage work and mixed media. Kristin loves color and things that have a love-worn comfortable feel. Her style contains vibrance mixed with a little funk, which is sprinkled with discreet sensibility.
Mona, the face behind @monaschreibt, is 38 years old and lives near Munich, Germany. She is a mixedmedia art journal artist and freelance interior designer. Mona always loved to design, paint and create. She started art journaling some years ago, when time was short with two little kids and ever since, art journaling is her favourite way to spend her art time and free her mind.
Ingrid Murray is a self-taught mixed media artist who began art journaling in 2009. Inspired by the innate creativity and sense of possibility that all of us experience as children, she lets intuition and chance lead the way in her practice, resulting in distinctively energetic and vibrant artwork.
Zero expectations. Zero pressure. All the fun.
