Leave with a completed, multi-layered art journal spread that is a visceral, abstract testament to their immediate process and a renewed sense of creative courage to engage materials without the need for control or perfection.
Join me in cultivating a practice of radical creative freedom by leaning into the messiness of growth. This workshop challenges the myth of perfection, offering a space to ditch the fear of 'ruining' a page and engage with intuitive presence instead. We start with a private journaling layer, using written word to explore concepts of release and potential. While studying live florals, you will be guided to translate observation into abstracted colors, shapes and marks - focusing on your individual expression rather than precise replication. We'll then introduce the technique of blind contour ink drawing to lay down an unfiltered line that contrasts the vibrant under layer. This piece is about making authentic, layered evidence of your own wild process.
Linden is a mixed media artist whose work explores the relationship between memory and the present moment. She incorporates found fragments, paint, ink, and ephemeral items from her immediate surroundings to honor the now and give purpose to overlooked objects. Her intuitive and experimental process is a mindful practice in letting go, resulting in layered pieces that act as visual field recordings of a shared story. An internationally published and exhibited artist, Linden also works as an illustrator and art educator in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Zero expectations. Zero pressure. All the fun.
