It might seem strange to have the Season of Calm right in the middle of the year - summer for most of us, and school holidays for a bunch of us. But in the same way that we find gratitude even when life is tough, we can carve out these pockets of calm for ourselves. We can find the moments of calm no matter what season of life we’re going through.
Taking a deep breath is calm.
Putting hand cream on before bed is calm.
Reading a book with a mug of fruity tea is calm.
Tearing pages out of magazines next to a partner watching TV is calm.
Being steadfast in who we are as a human being is calm.
Coming back to our journal is calm.
What is your calm? Where is your calm? Who is your calm? How can you find it? How can you carve out time for it?
Let’s explore that in our journals this season and let the chaos of life quieten down. We'll do this with Casey guiding us into creating a calming scene in your journal, Mits sharing her journals and the calm in life, and Marilou will show how to always be curious and explore layers of colour.
Casey is a life-long creative, wife, mother of five and even a grandmother. She discovered mixed media and art journaling in late 2020 during a time of grief and hasn’t stopped creating in her journals since then. She enjoys incorporating prayer and worship into her daily creative practice and wants to shout from the rooftops how beneficial art journaling is for the soul.
A Canadian living in Tokyo, Japan with her young family, she practices creative journaling as a way to celebrate the simple joys of life.
GROWTH is the most important aspect of being an artist for Marilou. She embraces being present while finding her voice in what she paints or draws. Marilou enjoys finding new ways of expressing herself while using a wide variety of art supplies!
Zero expectations. Zero pressure. All the fun.
