This season’s artwork is created by Sharon Bode.

Dear Messy Artist

The poet Ovid, who has been dead for well over 70 years, said the following:

“As wave is driven by wave

And each, pursued, pursues the wave ahead,

So time flies on and follows, flies, and follows,

Always, for ever and new. What was before

Is left behind; what never was is now;

And every passing moment is renewed.”

Beyond the moments of our lives, beyond the heritage of our past, we are gifted with constant renewal. Unceasing opportunities for fresh starts. An unyielding amount of times to try again.

We never get to miss our chance. We just get to try again.

Every day is a new start.

Every season.

Every moment.

And right now, no matter if you’ve been rocking your creative habit or you’ve felt like you’re all dried up, right now is your chance to make a mess.

Choose to show up imperfectly. Allow yourself to take a deep breath. Breathe in. Breathe out. Let go of what is behind you and simply create.

During this Season of Renewal, we have another three beautiful artists leading our creating. Each week they’ll share a challenge for you to take into your heart and art.

Kristy Kensinger will help you carve away slivers of time for peace and creating.

Andrew Steinbrecher, the King of the Gel Plate, will help you give new life to vintage books with… well, the Gelli plate.

Katie Licht, Queen of Collage, will guide you in working with lines, colors and imagery to create visually interesting and dimensional art journal pages.

You’re going to love it almost as much as I love your face.

Art + love

Your fairy artmother, Caylee

Kristy Kensinger

Kristy is an artist based in Colorado. With a background in graphic design and art history you often will see her graphic style and bits of history and loads of research seep into her work and teaching. When not creating, you can find her chasing her two young kids outside, going on field trips, practicing yoga, or seeking adventure.

Movement as Distraction

Drew is an avid knitter and photographer. He currently lives in Cincinnati working as a graphic designer and teaching a high school group. He creates art in his free time.
