Dear Messy Artist

It’s the start of a new year and with that comes so much promise… and expectation…

In order to really start the year off with a bang, we’re going to be harnessing the power of this creative, messy family. We’re going to be pairing up 🎉.

Part of the Messy Movement is Connection Through Community. Being a creative soul can be lonely, which is why we believe in support and supporting each other through every stage of your artistic journey. We know that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Together we are so much more.

This month, we’ll be creating that so much more by partnering up on a project. Two beautiful artists on opposite ends of the world will be sharing how they harness collaboration in their creative journeys. After a year long collaboration, they have loads to share. They’ll be going through the dos and don’ts, practical ideas for the collaboration, and a timeline.

Wondering who is part of this dynamic duo? I’m excited to (re) introduce Claudette and Char to you…

Claudette Hasenjager

Claudette is a multi-passionate woman. She often has more projects planned than time would ever be available to her. Sometimes this left her feeling a little like a crow distracted by gathering all the shiny little things. However, over time she has realized that this multifaceted layering is part of what keeps her excited about, and engaged with, her art-making process. Claudette is passionate about helping other women embrace those parts of themselves that they often feel shame around. She believes that those parts are where our magic lies. Using art, we can explore and cultivate these parts of ourselves and learn to love them deeply.

Char DeRouin

Char is an artist, designer and maker whose work is abstract, intuitive and organic in style, with a no-rules approach. She is influenced by experiences and emotions; colors, patterns, and just about any kind of ephemera out there! Char loves using her creativity for personal expression and connection.

You will have Char and Claudette acting as Cupid for this season. They’ll guide you in finding a partner and through each step of your collaboration.

    So… Are you in?

If this season has sparked something in you and you’d like to nurture that spark into a flame, go through the action steps below. Take what you need from this season. Create with abandon and ignore perfection. Get Messy is the catalyst, but ultimately, this season is what you make of it.

    Get excited.

    Art + love, Caylee
