How to staple large zines

This is one of those ‘a-HA’ moments. I could never figure out how to staple together pieces of paper that were too big for my stapler to reach. I saw this on the net somewhere a few years ago, but I thought I’d share it with you in case you too were stuck in that conundrum.

Take your folded sheets of paper (this is letter size folded in two). See how my stapler doesn’t reach?

You’ll need an eraser. Any kind works, as long as you’re not too attached to it.

Simply place the eraser on the inside part of your zine, where you’d like the staple to go.

Turn the zine around and feel where the eraser is.

Then, open up your stapler…

…and staple on the fold, essentially stapling into the eraser.

Turn zine around, remove eraser and fold down the arms of the staple.

Be amazed that you stapled together these pages without having to buy a huge industrial sized stapler!

Action Steps

Create in your journal. Bring your imperfect, messy self, take what you need, and know that more than zero is enough.
