Messy May - Daily-ish Journaling Challenge for Imperfect Creatives

Day 01 Starting

Remember: Bring your messy self, take what you need (no such thing as being behind), and remember that more than zero is enough.

Here’s the prompt for today’s Messy May:

Start. Either by opening your journal to a new page or by binding a journal just for Messy May. Be welcomed into the challenge, and welcome your fellow creatives.

Today's prompt is hosted by Caylee Grey

Caylee Grey

Caylee Grey is a South African artist who fills her journals with loads of mediocre art. Imperfect, heart-led, gloriously mediocre art. Caylee’s the Fairy Artmother of Get Messy Art, the kindest art journaling community on the internet, and author of the book by the same name.

Here's some encouragement from Caylee Grey

Caylee Grey's advice for embracing imperfection in your journal:

It’s been 8 years since I made imperfection my literal job, and I still have to remind myself that it’s okay. My advice is to give yourself a lot of grace. Successful artists aren’t successful because they’ve been through a lot of success, but rather because they’re kept going even though there have been loads of mistakes.

Allow yourself to make those mistakes – there’s beauty in the mess.
