Ashley is just an artsy-craftsy kinda girl trying to make it in the world. She loves everything from scrapbooking to sewing and art journaling to jewelry making. Her motto is “Make it ’til you make it. And then make some more.”
When I was younger I dabbled in making altered books, but my journey into art journaling began just a little over a year ago. I became an avid art journaler when a lovely group of ladies organized Sisters with Heart in Art, a fun community of artists of all levels and styles who create and share their art guided by weekly prompts on Instagram. Every week I was excited for a new prompt, and I began watching art journal tutorials for various tips and techniques. I used supplies I already had on hand, and pieced together pages with multiple collage elements. Eventually I discovered Get Messy Art Journal, and decided to join. Being a part of the Get Messy community gave me a huge boost creatively. It was during the Season of Introspection when I realized how much art journaling is my safe haven. Not only do I art journal to experiment with different techniques, but I also art journal to process my thoughts and feelings. Art journaling is an escape for me. The more I create, the more I feel free.
